About St. Margaret’s Bay
The nearby famous white cliffs are a short walk away as is the local beach. The walk down to St Margaret’s Bay is quite steep , however there is car access and parking there also. St Margaret’s Bay is a charming small coastal village with a hotel, pubs, cafes, antique shops, post office, church and a village shop for essentials. There are lots of walks directly from the house that take in the views and it’s a beautiful 60 min walk along the cliffs to nearby Deal which has plenty of great shops, Saturday farmers market, pubs and restaurants.
Dover castle is a ten minute drive away and Folkstone’s sandy beach slightly further. Howlett’s safari park is 25 mins away and Quex park just 20 mins…both fabulous for children. Sandwich Bay is a fantastic sandy beach, just beyond Deal.
Car is advisable but there are regular local buses and reliable taxi service is available. There is an hourly high speed train service from St Pancras to nearby Martin Mill (5 mins drive) and Dover (15 mins) taking just over one hour.
