The self contained Cottage, once part of an old grain business, is located in the garden of a 17th Century Grade II listed private house in the peaceful attractive historic village of Nonington. Idyllic for walkers, hikers, cyclists or those who just want a few days away from it all, there is something for everyone. Just a short drive from the A2, with fast links to Canterbury, Dover, and London. Sandwich, Deal and the north Kent beaches are a short distance. Set in a wonderful tranquil rural location, the cottage is located within a beautiful old walled garden. With its sitting room and open plan kitchen with breakfast bar on the ground floor and its very large bedroom and shower room up the stairs on the first floor, with super kingsize bed, fabulous views over the surrounding countryside, Gardener’s Cottage make a perfect escape to the country, be it for a lazy few days, or sightseeing and hiking. No children please.

Guests have full access to the whole cottage and to the patio area where they can have drinks and bbq, or their meals. There is a separate side entrance, with steps, from the front garden of the main house that leads down to the front door. Jane Elliott, the owner will be there to greet and look after you during your stay

Located in the conservation zone in Nonington in the beautiful county of Kent, home to the North Downs way, perfect walking, biking, cycling, bird watching and hiking country as well as golf and sea fishing. There is a tremendous amount to do around here, with the coast so close, with its fabulous beaches, and the historic City of Canterbury only a fifteen minute drive. Should you wish to stay closer to home walk through the meadows to discover the world beyond. And while out for a walk why not try our friendly local pub the Griffin’s Head for great home cooked food and a fantastic and varied wine list, or venture further afield….most of the local picturesque villages have a warm and welcoming pub with menus full of local produce. Fantastic fish and shellfish can be bought in Deal, or meander down to Gibsons at Wingham, the farm shop, where the local farmer showcases his produce. Visit the farm on the way to the historic town of Sandwich, approx three miles away, for freshly cut asparagus or newly picked cherries when it is the season (June and July). We really are right in the heart of Garden of England with fantastic local produce, wonderful orchards, vineyards (Barnsole Vineyard in Staple), and beautiful quintessentially English views from every corner. Whatever the season, for those looking to get away from it all, Nonington is the place. Supermarkets in Sandwich, Canterbury or Whitfield and are all within a short drive. The village has a garage (petrol pumps open Monday to Friday to 5 p.m. – currently closed on Saturday and Sunday). Plenty of bars and restaurants in Deal, Canterbury and Sandwich, with great pubs in between. There is a Spa – Tor in Ickham near Canterbury, for holistic massage etc.

Easy to reach from London and the rest of the UK and Northern Europe, Gardener’s Cottage is a mile away from Snowdown Station, with its train connections to Faversham, Dover, Canterbury East and onto London Victoria. From Deal, Ashford or Canterbury West, the fast train to London goes into St Pancras. With the A2 on our doorstep, the drive to Canterbury is no longer than fifteen minutes. There are two park and rides in the City which saves looking for a parking space although there is plenty of parking within the city centre. Its about one and a half hour drive to London if the traffic is good. Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel are about twenty minutes away. Local taxis can be booked for a night out to dinner or the theatre in Canterbury. Local Indian and Chinese takeaways deliver and are very popular. Deal has a wonderful high street, a Saturday market and interesting local shops selling antiques, interesting clothes, food and gifts. Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate are all within a thirty minute drive and have great beaches as well as very interesting old towns, with great independent shops. We can supply a reliable taxi service telephone numbers as well as helping with restaurant reservations. When bringing the car, we always advise turning around in the drive rather than backing out as locals, farm vehicles and tractors tend to drive above the speed limit and it is safer to have full vision when leaving the property.
