Family Friendly, Couples Holiday

Nestled in picturesque countryside along a peaceful country lane, Deerson Barn is an idyllic rural retreat. With sweeping views across open fields, you can watch horses roaming, sheep grazing, and enjoy the abundance of local wildlife — from badgers and rabbits to woodpeckers and geese flying overhead. Perfect for couples and families seeking a tranquil escape, this charming home offers the ideal setting for a relaxing getaway.

Wander through ancient woodland leading to the nearby village of Preston, home to a Norman church, village store, butcher, and restaurant. In the opposite direction, woodland walks blanketed with bluebells in spring guide you alongside a gentle stream, inviting you to dip your toes in the water. The trail continues to the quaint village of Wickhambreaux, where you will find a traditional country pub.

Once a disused agricultural building, Deerson Barn has been beautifully transformed into a luxurious holiday home, combining rustic charm with modern comfort. Inside, elegant Amtico parquet flooring flows through the galleried hallway, where stairs lead to a second living area boasting countryside views and additional sleeping space for two. The master bedroom features an en-suite shower room and French doors opening onto a private decked terrace. Two further bedrooms — one with a king-size bed and one with twin beds — are served by a stylish family bathroom complete with a freestanding bath.

The open-plan living area is designed for socialising, with a fully equipped kitchen perfect for family meals or a champagne afternoon tea (available to order from the owner’s nearby catering business). The adjoining lounge, with its roaring wood burner, offers a cosy spot to unwind with a glass of wine and a classic film, while bi-fold doors flood the space with natural light and bring the outdoors in.

Outside, the raised decked terrace wraps around the barn, offering stunning views across the fields. Steps lead down to a spacious patio with an al fresco dining area and a luxurious swim spa with hot tub section (available 8am–9pm), ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. Bathrobes are provided so you can wrap up warm and enjoy a drink under the stars. Guests are kindly asked to keep noise to a minimum after 10pm to respect the peaceful surroundings.

Just a 20-minute drive away lies the historic city of Canterbury, while the charming Kent coast is only 15 minutes away — with highlights including the medieval town of Sandwich and the scenic Pegwell Bay.
Beach 9½ miles. Shop, pub, and restaurant ¾ mile.
